JTEKT Bearings Canada Unit

JTEKT Bearings Canada Inc. is a wholly owned subsidiary of JTEKT, a company headquartered in Japan.

Approximately 200 unionized employees manufacture planetary shafts for automatic transmission and rotary pump vanes for hydraulic pumps for engines and transmissions which serve major known automotive customers.

The factory is located in Bedford and has been in existence for over 140 years (under different names over time: Corey Needles, Torrington, Timken, Koyo Bearings Canada).

The main manufacturing processes at this plant are cold extrusion, grinding, machining and heat treatment.

The union president of the JTEKT Bearings Canada unit is: Pascal Tremblay.
